MEET-UP 4 | Towards productive, regenerative urban environments

An exploratory evening.

What is necessary in the city, to live in balance with the planet, its inhabitants and their needs? How can certain practices be embedded in a larger system, and which exemplary initiatives are already working towards a creative, resilient and locally productive city?

There are a lot of organisations working on a more sustainable future through different projects and practices, all with their own unique focus, expertise and story. While these initiatives have real impact, scaling or spreading their efforts or aligning with others can be difficult within current systems, where vocabulary, priorities, and needs can differ.

This evening, we will dive into four different initiatives and learn from these. What kind of future do they envision and what role do the environment and place mean in these (current) futures? Which terms (like commons, stewardship, regeneration, local production, kinship) do they use—and what do they mean to them? What roles do citizens, municipalities, and intermediary organisations play in their work and system change? And what are the biggest challenges and opportunities in moving forward together?

This exploratory evening is meant to inspire, think of alternatives, see opportunities and understand what system change entails in practice. We will conclude the evening with reflections given by different people.
