Lakenhal

The area between Kloveniersburgwal and Zwanenburgwal was outside the city walls until the 16th century. The cloth industry was located here; the Staalhofcomplex was its centre. The Clothhal (Lakenhal) was part of the Staalhofcomplex. The Cloth Hall at Groenburgwal 42 was drastically rebuilt in 1827-1829 into the English Episcopal Church, the first neo-Gothic structure in the Netherlands.
