DIGITAL TOOLS FOR CRAFTSMANSHIP ENHANCEMENT

Local color meets Tracks4Crafts project

Local color focuses on the resources that a city can produce, what are the systems and culture necessary for this transition to happen, while mapping the processes for growing, dyeing and extracting color from natural urban resources. The digital tools, aside from the various interactive catalogues for plant and color, or the maps, are also the ones that support digitalisation of the craftsmanship processes in using these natural resources.

The Tracks4Crafts project, another TextileLab project, focuses on creating and hacking digital drawing tools for printing dyes and mordants on textiles, to explore how technology can revolutionalize craft while maintaining its creative nature. It bridges processes, materials and tools towards a an ever evolving new set of possibilities of printing fabrics naturally.
